You are in good company Bob. I to, in mid 50s, recently became a chopper owner again, after a 35yr gap.

I caught a glimpse of a chopper in the background on, I think, 'Antiques Road Trip' last week.

I'm up the road from Tatton Park. I shall keep an eye out for a 'blinged' up Ben Sherman!

The Ben Sherman is one of the better limited editions. Yours looks in really nice condition Oradour.

All the best with your restoration Chris, i'm sure you have good advice to hand and I look forward to seeing your finished project in, not only the bikes and projects, but also the BOTM thread.

It has been a long time, too long, but I own a chopper once again. It feels good. The paint job is stunning. I must admit one problem though. Since it has been delivered, there is a song stuck in my mind. I just cannot get the words out of my head. It goes "Happy days are here again..."

Are you buying it just to collect then? The pleasure i will get, riding out and about with my daughter, Mick B, far outweighs any thoughts of wrapping it up in cotton wool.

The mod chopper is featured/advertised on the Modculture website. Cycle life Shoreham will be particularly pleased about this. This 'bike' appeals to a different group of people who maybe have little or no interest in Raleigh choppers and in a way that maybe was'nt the case with other recent limited editions. They may want to stick on a parka and go riding, but a doubt it. Hence my comment on being collectable. Not now while it is available but when it is not. My motivation behind buying it is it's a chopper (some would disagree, fair enough) first and foremost. It is also in my price range which unfortunately the mk1 and mk2 reasonably is not.

Thanks Jake. I'll start sourcing a parka. Exciting times indeed.

I thought mods rode lambrettas and vespas, never seen one in a parka riding a chopper made in China ? Similarly, I've never seen a Hell's Angel riding a Raleigh chopper, but that's an interesting thought monkeymonkey.

Thankyou for your opinions on the Mod chopper/mk3, some forthright which is fair enough. I have told friends and family of my impending purchase and it has rekindled quite an interest, both because it is a chopper and also for its music and cultural connection. If the 'Mod' design was on any other bike it would be impressive but to be on a Raleigh Chopper I find it quite sensational. As well as being enjoyable, this version could be very collectable.

Welcome to the forum. Always glad to see interest in the mk3. May I ask which model mk3 have you recently bought?

Welcome to the forum. I do understand the disappointment in the mk 3 but the more stigma I hear about them, the more interesting the mk 3 limited editions become.

Hello all. I think most of us in the 50ish age group have fond memories of the Raleigh Chopper. I have just pre ordered the limited edition 'mod' chopper which has prompted my membership of the forum. I admit a slight disappointment on originality aspects of the bike but nevertheless very excited to own a chopper once again. One question if I may, is the 'mod' chopper considered to be a mk3 model?
