What a find. I have a friend who has his child hood bike from 76. And yes, original is most desirable and better to look at. It's only original once. A good strip and clean. Polish the chrome or even replate. As for paint, leave it as is with the " i remember doing that scratch" Excellent, enjoy π

Welcome too. A nice looking bike, why repaint it? Its only original once. Patina on the paint is great, rechrome and all that, paint with age is priceless π

Welcomes.. liking the name "Tamiya" anything to do with the r/c cars? Guilty as chargedΒ Β Another overgrown kid with nostalgic bent. Sadly everybody is into retro/repop mode, every big-in-the-70/80s-toy companies even the likes of Tamiya have chomped the wackytobakky... they're gradually rereleasing everything in their back catalogue. At least they're still MADE IN/BY SAME FACTORY as original from 40yrs ago not outsourced to foreign sweatshop, repop parts are totally interchangeable with old... and OH&S haven't gotten a lookinΒ I know the story.. i used race bitd.. the Tamiya Fox.. like to get my hands on a new on if they release another. The old ones would be too brittle and expensive to use now.
